While using NetBSD 1.2, BFFS was the only possibility for me to transfer
files to and from the NetBSD filesystems. That was because at that time the
Fastlane Z3 driver could not access more than one SCSI device, which
prevented reading the AmigaOS disk and using the tape drive from the NetBSD
side. I even had to use BFFS in one step of the NetBSD installation (that
was a bit tricky, but it worked). During all this, I never had any serious
problems with filesystem corruptions.
