Hi,

I hope these questions aren't too dumb. I've had version 1.1 installed
and running fine on my A4000 for a couple of years now. When I
upgraded my graphics card to a CV643D I found that I needed to upgrade
NetBSD. I set up a new larger SCSI drive for the purpose. The install
procedure has me confused however. I've set up the drive using
HDToolBox according to the install instructions. My partitions are as
below:

###
Device: "warpdrive.device" Unit: 3 Capacity: 2063.7 Megs
DiskVendor: IBM DiskProduct DCAS-32160 DiskRevision: S65A
Cylinders: 8239 Heads: 3 Blks-p-Trk: 171 [Blks-p-Cyl: 513]
Total Blocks: 4226607 Block Size 512

--| Partition: "ROOT" Capacity: 401.0 Megs
--| Start Block: 1026 End Block: 822338 Total Blocks: 821313
--| Block Size: 512

--| Partition: "USER" Capacity: 799.0 Megs
--| Start Block: 822339 End Block: 2458808 Total Blocks: 1636470
--| Block Size: 512

--| Partition: "LOCAL" Capacity: 651.7 Megs
--| Start Block: 2458809 End Block: 3793634 Total Blocks: 1334826
--| Block Size: 512

--| Partition: "SWAP" Capacity: 211.4 Megs
--| Start Block: 3793635 End Block: 4226606 Total Blocks: 432972
--| Block Size: 512

I copy the miniroot as indicated with the following results:

7.STORE:NetBSD_1.3> xstreamtodev --input=miniroot.fs --rdb-name=SWAP
found partition: "SWAP" capacity: 211.4 Megs
start block: 3793635 end block: 4226606 total blocks: 432972
block Size: 512
dumping to: start block: 3793635 to end block: 4226606 [size: 216485K]

write from file "miniroot.fs" to partition "SWAP"? [Ny]:y
reading: 03801827 -> 03801926  [  1%]
7.STORE:NetBSD_1.3>

Finally I boot using Loadbsd -b Netbsd. SD3 is the NetBSD drive. At
this point I am prompted for the root device. The root partition is
sd3a, although I remember from the 1.1 install that I would enter
sd3*. I'm next prompted for the "dump" device. What is the dump
device? At first I assumed it was the SWAP partition so I entered that
(sd3d). Last I'm prompted for the file system. I just hit return to
use the default "generic" although I've tried NFS and others just to
see what would happen. In any case, the installation never goes
anywhere.

My system is: A4000 with Warpengine.SCSI, 128 Megs RAM on Warp, CV643D
graphics card. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Ola Olsson
