Since 1.3 there has been an option in rc.conf to have xdm started by rc.
No need to fiddle with rc.local yourself.
Make sure all files are set up correctly in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/
"man xdm" will probably provide useful help. For a display on a graphics
board the graphics modes need to be configured correctly, see
the grfconfig manpage. There is an old tool (ReadCVMonitor) to convert
CyberGraphX modes to modelines, but for 1.3.x the output needs to be
patched a bit.
