Colormap problems
Help !!!
I have recently upgraded my system from NetBSD 1.21/X11R6.1 to
NetBSD 1.3/X11R6.3. I use the ECS chipset with grf0 and had no problems
with the old system. After the upgrade I get numerous warnings about
colormap allocation, for example:
Warning: Cannot allocate colormap for: 'Blue'
Also, I am only getting what appears to be 4 colors on my screen. I
followed the installation directions very carefully:
0. Untarred the files as root with:
cd / ; tar --unlink -xvpzf <filename>
1. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers:
:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X -dev /dev/grf0 -width 680 -height 540
-nozap
2. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc:
X -dev /dev/grf0 -width 680 -height 540 -nozap
Please note: Other then path changes, these settings are identical
to my old system.
3. I made the Xserver setuid root:
chown root:bin /usr/X11R6/bin/Xamiga
chmod 47511 /usr/X11R6/bin/Xamiga
4. Modified my .cshrc
change
set path=(/sbin /usr/sbin /bin /usr/bin)
to
set path=(/sbin /usr/sbin /bin /usr/bin /usr/X11R6/bin)
5. Created /etc/ld.so.conf containing:
/usr/X11R6/lib
Where did I go wrong ???
Other then the color problems, X11 is working fine.
I did try adding the '-depth 4' option to my server files with
no effect.
My system: A3000/16, 2M chip & 8M fast memory, 50 MB quantum,
1.08GB Fujitsu, 80 MB Segate, A2410 graphics board
Note: I run 'shutup' on the A2410 before booting NetBSD
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
