xpm-3.4k installed.
The error doesn't occur any more! Many thanks!!!

But ...

During the "make" issue of AfterStep, there's another error further
down the compilation process:

plat_freebsd.c:33 /sys/scsi/scsi_all.h: No such file or directory
plat_freebsd.c:34 /sys/scsi/scsi_cd.h: No such file or directory

What's that now?
Indeed, there's no "/sys" directory.
