Hi,
I just thought it was a good idea and tried to backup my NetBSD
partitions from within NetBSD, so I borrowed a friends tape drive.
Unfortunaly it didn't work: here is the output
(it is a 1.2.1 system with a 1.3_ALPHA #0 kernel)

The tape condition codes resulted from a 'mt rewind' command
Any clue on this one ?
It worked fine with a fixed disk and a CDROM drive.
Regards,
Ruben
