If you have NetBSD-1.2 or later (that is, the serial driver bug fixed),
AND use LEV6_DEFER, you'll be able to go higher (with a fast enough CPU).

My test case was talking to my modem at 57600 on a stock A3000 (68030 @
25 MHz).

It definitely can't guarantee this, although you can do this if you dont
have heavy load at IPL 6. Actually, the NetBSD driver does less work at 
the hardware receive interupt, and should thus be able to be better than 
the AmigaOS serial.device. This was prevented in the past by a stupid bug.
