There is an open PR (2907) about problems with
A4000T/68040 (screen black when booting).

The submitter does not have the problem with his 68060 board.

Unfortunately, the submitter no longer has the 68040 board, and so
can't verify the problem.

Is there anybody with A4000Tower and 68040 cpu running NetBSD-1.2, or
failing to?
