   I did, adn it worked fine for me. I don't have the definition
   at my fingers, but i think it was to add the following to your
   kernel config file:

   option SERCONSOLE=1

   I'm not sure about the =1 part, it might have been =0. Try and see.

its 0. The value is the unit to use (which is always 0 for the ser driver). 

Remnant of the code ser.c was derived from.
