Gzip for AmigaDOS

Has anyone managed to locate a decent, working version of Gzip for AmigaDOS ?

I've searched everywhere, and the only one I've found is gzip124x2 on Aminet 
under
util/pack. This works to a point, but won't handle .tgz files, and seems to 
crash my system more than I can tolerate. Maybe it isn't 040 friendly, I dunno. 

If this is a very obvious question, may I just point out that I haven't got 
round to installing NetBSD 1.2 yet. Have to shunt some data first to create 
some space.

Any help greatly appreciated.
