serial ports?

Can anyone please explain me the differences between the following devices:

/dev/tty00 and /dev/ttym0 and
/dev/ttyA* and /dev/ttyM*

I know the further are the devices for the built-in serial port whereelse the
latter ones are for the multiport-cards (do they work for both A2232 and MFC?).
But what's the difference between the 'normal' and '[Mm]'-version?
