There are no special modes for boards. Modes are for monitors. (That
is, mostly... some boards might do strange things requiring fine
tuning of the horizontal or vertical phase or width of the sync pulses).

And of course, you have to make sure not to exceed the board chip
limits, as well as the monitor limits.
