xfm & moxfm

Hi everyone!  I recently downloaded xfm-1.3.2 and moxm for NetBSD 1.1.
I'm currently using Xpm3.4g and Xaw3d.  I tried to run both xfm and moxfm 
under fvwm95-2, but get error messages such as:

   xfm: can't read icon for application Xterm
   xfm: can't read icon for type <COMPRESS>*.tar.Z

I don't think the window manager is the problem.  I even tried to
recompile xfm-1.3.2 from scratch using Xaw3d (It looks nice, mind you :-)
but the icons don't come up!).  Does anyone have any idea why this is
happening?  Does is have to do with the pixmap format?  Is is something
that can be fixed by looking at the source or is this some sort of bug?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
