new laptop
Someone just acquired a Dell Latitude 5300. I just netbooted it
using /usr/mdec/bootx64.efi to see what the hardware was.
cpu0: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8265U CPU @ 1.60GHz"
cpu0: Intel 7th or 8th gen Core (Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake) or Xeon E (Coffee Lake) (686-class), 7524.82 MHz
so
genfb0 at pci0 dev 2 function 0: vendor 8086 product 3ea0 (rev. 0x00)
genfb0: framebuffer at 0x80000000, size 800x600, depth 32, stride 3200
wsdisplay0 at genfb0 kbdmux 1: console (default, vt100 emulation), using wskbd0
drm at genfb0 not configured
and no X.
"vesa: Ignoring device with a bound kernel driver" ?
Working wm0 at pci0 dev 31 function 6: I219 V Ethernet Connection (rev. 0x30)
hence the successful boot.
No wireless:
vendor 8086 product 9de0 (miscellaneous communications, revision 0x30) at pci0 dev 22 function 0 not configured
at least I assume that's the wireless(!)
But really odd: in the BIOS, for the working windows 10, the disk is set
to RAID. Not sure what that means as AFAICT there is a single NVMe chip
inside. ahcisata0 is detected, but no wd0.
Cheers,
Patrick
