Okay, I think I'll have to write this off to TSC timecounters in 5.2
disagreeing with something in the i7.  Not entirely surprising; there
are other issues as well (the USB hardware isn't recognized; I will
probably look at backporting - and the builtin keyboard doesn't work
until userland starts, and a (USB) external keyboard only semi-works).
But, overall, it so far looks surprisingly usable.
