In your case mentioning Core 2 Meron may actually be reasonable, since
(I guess) it is just the Xeon variant with the same microarchitecture.

But compare this to mine:

cpu0: Intel Pentium III (Katmai) (686-class), 2826.37 MHz, id 0x10677
cpu0: "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU           X3360  @ 2.83GHz"

You can hardly claim that it is reasonable to say Pentium III Katmai here?
This CPU has absolutely nothing to do with the Pentium III Katmai
based Xeons that existed almost ten years ago...

... except the re-used cpuid family/model of course.
