Nforce 520. I recall someone having issues
with hard drives not being detected on this
chipset in 4.0, I think this may have been fixed
since then.

I'd try -current, ACPI support has been significantly
improved since 4.0.  Also, it's ACPI support is easily
disabled via boot.conf.
