Could not load wpi firmware
Hello,
I can't get my XPS M1330's wpi interface working on NetBSD 4.99.70/amd64.
I already had the issue earlier this year and couldn't solve it.
So I stopped trying to use /amd64 hoping this would be solved by some
ACPI and/or other code upgrade. Since then I've been using NetBSD/i386
without special issues. A few days ago, I decided to give /amd64 a try
but it still fails getting wpi0 up. I installed OpenBSD 4.4-beta/amd64
and I don't have a single problem with wpi0 - it goes up straight away.
I tried using the firmware binary from OpenBSD on my NetBSD install but
this doesn't solve my problem. I tried upgrading/resetting the BIOS:
still fails. I tried using the physical switch to set
Wireless/Bluetooth/3G on/off. Stopping the laptop (remove battery & AC)
between reboots, booting with switch On and switching it Off/On and
vice-versa. There is no way to get the wpi0 interface up.
I tried the same NetBSD install (it's running on a USB stick) on other
system with same wireless chips and don't get issue. I tried Dell D430
and Lenovo R61. The issue really seems located on that particular XPS
laptop.
The hw.wpi0.radio parameter follows physical switch status.
The wpi0 never gets the "RUNNING" state.
Anyone has a Dell XPS M1330 working ?
Find attached informations about dmesg, ifconfig and sysctl.
I can provide OpenBSD informations (dmesg, sysctl, ...) too if required.
Any idea ?
