xpdf work fine in my amd64 workstation, no problems
detected in both resized and scrolling the window in
both directions.

yes it does complete, no problems.

what NetBSD version is you running currently ?
can you do a

# cd /usr/pkgsrc/print/xpdf && make update

if any, i think that you check you xfree86
configuration in Monitor preferences, maybe here the
problem, (review the refresh or color)
