NetBSD will talk to a 6306/6307:

fwohci0 at pci1 dev 6 function 0: VIA Technologies VT6306 IEEE 1394 Host Controller (rev. 0x80)

However... getting NetBSD to talk to firewire devices connected to the 6306/6307 is
a whole other question...   :-(
