That's easy. Just pretend you have an ASR33. That's a terminal with a 
paper tape reader/punch which worked over the same serial line as the 
terminal.
Now, I assume there is something more that you need to figure out, but 
we'll take it another day. :-)

I'll see if I have the time in the next day or two, to setup a serial 
printer here to see what might be the problem (or refresh my mind).
