my network card must be broken. There is a new network cable connecting
my alpha to the LAN and all the other host on that switch don't suffer
from any problems... I am sorry, but I don't see at which line the
packet gets lost.

Maybe it's within this line? The packet coming from
michigan-openafs.central.org from tcp port 80 to proteus.mydomain.com to
tcp port 65456 with a window-size of 6432 and the ack flag set. I am not
sure about "270101:271561(1460) ack 137"
