Yes, I found 3.0_BETA would crash pretty fast running KDE and Gnome
programs, I assume because of some threading bug. I should try, but

the beta, but...I am still running it.

make it like a 1.6 system

I didn't try threaded programs on earlier versions. If I just don't
run any Gnome/KDE stuff, all my other programs including apache are
not threaded, and the system stays up for months.
