GENERIC kernel has  under ISA devices-
#wss* at isa? port 0x530 irq 9 drq 0 # Windows Sound System
#wss* at isapnp?
#audio* at wss?
You need to build a custom kernel with these lines 'in' to get
dmesg to report wss0 device configured. use mixerctl -a , -w
'man mixerctl' for list of commands to set sound parameters.
On my as500 SRM does not report ISA sound card, but kernel
configures it. Hope this helps.
