I'm pretty sure it did say vnlock, but I don't remember now.

I'm going to start another build tonight so maybe I'll get a chance to
find out for sure...  :-)

No, and Yes.  From my /etc/fstab:

proven.weird.com:/work  /proven/work    nfs     -b,-i,rw,nodev,nosuid   0 0

I keep meaning to try soft mounts, especially for $HOME, but I haven't
got around to it yet (and I'm reluctant to force the kind of failures
that would help me figure out whether they're any advantage or not ;-).
