I tried on an alpha running OSF1 V4.0 with a very old perl 5.000, and got
this:

> /usr/local/bin/perl -e 'print exp(0 - 736.285624221884), "\n";'
0
> uname -a
OSF1 XXXXXX.physik.uni-wuppertal.de V4.0 1229 alpha

May try to upgrade to the "buggy" perl version there to see if it's perl
or the perl<->NetBSD interaction.
