thanks for your quick reply. I'm afraid this is allready -current:

# uname -a
NetBSD  1.6R NetBSD 1.6R (GENERIC) #0: Tue Apr  8 06:17:35 CEST 2003
root@:/usr/src/sys/arch/alpha/compile/GENERIC alpha

I also checked a second SCSI controller (qlogic 1040): same effect :(
