This checked out fine. I did have the drives connected properly to
the cable and the cable properly connected to the header.

Still no dice. I still get no power to the IDE drive.

This also did not help.

This helped out immensely! I couldn't believe how much stronger the
fan blew after removing the resistor.

I just don't understand why I'm not getting any power.
The floppy works fine, the on-board ether works fine, SCSI works fine,
even my PCMCIA 3Com NIC works fine. Just no power to the IDE controller.

Using your MULTIAIDE.fs boot image from
http://pages.cthome.net/squeege/multia/
I get to the point where it wants to mount / on wd0, but since it's
not working, it can't mount it. During bootup, there is a 5-10 sec
pause when wdc0 is being configured. I'm guessing no power is the
source of the pause.

Why would upgrading my firmware cause power to no longer be sent to
the IDE controller?
