Hello all,


I'm having difficulty installing netbsd on an alpha 3000/500.
It boots from the cd, then switches to the serial console after 
displaying "SWITCHING TO SERIAL CONSOLE", then the display hangs,
but the machine appears to be doing something. Is a serial console
mandatory at this point?  Are there any flags to force it use the 
attached monitor/keyboard?  Can someone point me to an explanation
of this behavior?
