Hi,
I just inherited some DEC3000 machines(DEC3000 600/300X).
I have little/no experience with Alpha machines.
To install NetBSD:

1) Install a DEC 423 line cord/MMJ adapter to a
   FreeBSD DB9 serial port.
2) Start tip in FreeBSD in an xterm
3) Insert NetBSD CD made bootable with cdhdtape
in the DEC3000 and boot machine.

Will this work? What tip command should I use to start the console? What
command do I use to boot the CD? Is there a better way?

Help!
