This sounds very like a problem I reported with a PC164, a Qlogic
1020, and a De500-BA (21143) 10/100 Ethernet card - whenever xfers
started on the Qlogic, the DE500 would cough up blood and eventually
die. My theory was that the Qlogic was not being sufficiently
friendly with the PCI bus (or the DE500 not sufficiently patient).
Changing out the DE500 for a 4-port 10/100 (21143) Ethernet card
where all the I/F's are behind a 21152 PCI-PCI bridge made the
problem go away.
However, I just dropped an ATTO ExpressPCI Ultra SCSI controller into
the system (53c875) and we'll how well that plays with the other
devices...
