Dear all,

i just got myself an used DEC-alpha 3000/500 with a J300 card (or
something) in it and a neat 19" color monitor. It's currently running
OSF/1 V3.2, but i would like to run NetBSD/alpha for i'm used to it and
the OSF/1 is getting a bit old and misses a lot of software.

I was quite dissapointed when i saw that NetBSD/alpha only supported the
serial console ... but in NetBSD/alpha -current i see a nice kernel
configuration that might help me !!

The trouble is that even though i have more machines, including a
DECstation 5000/33, i can't seem to get the serial console working...

So i'm asking you if someone would like to build me an install kernel
based on TCWSCONS or the like. I really would like to use the
console/keyboard/mouse !!, also for installing....

Is it wise for me to upgrade ? I sure would like to have sound output and
or to use the J300 card (av0 in OSF/1) ... but i have no source for that
as far as i can see... I do have a licence for OSF/1 and a source-CD, but
i guess the card's software came precompiled.

Would like to see the audio work though one day (and videodigitiser
perhaps) :)) .... maybe even homecraft some if i got the docs about it...
i've programmed videodigitisers and audio stuff before... be it in
(Strong)ARM MC and not in Alpha MC...

Thanks in advance,

Reinoud Zandijk

Installed cards
  5-AV300-AA ( 2 times audio in/out + videodigitiser )
3-DGLTA-FA ( obsolete ATM card... not used )
