Subject: NIS (YP) broken on alpha?

I wanted to try some stuff with NIS for the very first time (mostly,
uniform uids and passwords). But ypcatting passwd gave weird results,
not all users were listed. A make in /var/db/domainname suggested to run
makedbm -u passwd.byname.db, and indeed, many keys in the database had
no value. A strings on passwd.byname.db suggests that the data is in
the database but it's not getting out.

When setting up a test domain on another architecture, the makedbm -u
output was as I expected.

Has anybody else seen this?
