Hmm, there is an rx(something) scsi floppy, so it's conceivable. However,
there is endless optional flotsam in the SCSI spec, so the only way to
really know that A is compatible with B is to try it .. note .. you do
have to be certain that the physical interfaces are compatible .. I would
want something more than just a compatible IDC pincount unless I didn't
care at all if the HW smoked. If you know something is SCSI-x, then you
won't hurt anything by connecting it, but it might or might not work at
the controller and driver level.

Other ways to boot a '3000 are (1) netboot (2) CD boot (3) musical hard
drive.
