i've got a long standing problem on my pc164 where xntpd doesn't start
up properly. after boot I have:

   root 198 0.0 0.5 768 1200 ?? S<s Sat10AM 0:00.30 xntpd -p /var/run/xntpd.pid
   root 201 0.0 0.4 784 1120 ?? I< Sat10AM 0:00.04 xntpd -p /var/run/xntpd.pid

ntpq -c peers doesn't work either.

i thought it might be the lack of `options NTP' in the kernel, so I
added that, but no joy.

any thoughts?
