I have resolved that one. I tried to verify if the hardware was broken
or the cable somehow wrong, by trying to netboot from the SRM. This gave
me some confidence ;-) So after booting again I tried (counterintuively)
to change the (correctly, I would think) autodetected 10baseT into
100baseTX. And, lo and behold, it worked.

So I suppose the cable modem is being a bit weird. But I'm glad it works
and I'm typing this from my CIT-224 console now ;-) Perhaps I should now
try to get the SRM to autoboot into NetBSD, move the cursed video card
to a 32-bit slot again, and see if NetBSD will then use it as console.
That would leave me with only serial access to the SRM but that's no
worse than what I have now. (remember, in that configuration the SRM
ignored the video card completely, not even using it for console I/O).
