my file server at home is current a 3000/400 with 2 internal drives
and 4 external drives, on the 2nd scsi bus. i see this at boot time:

sd9(asc1:3:0): asc1: timed out [ecb 0xfffffe00000561e0 (flags 0x5, dleft 20, stat 2)], <state 2, nexus 0xfffffe00000561e0, phase(l 12, c 100, p 3), resid 0, msg(q 0,o 0) >
sd9(asc1:3:0): sync negotiation disabled
sd9(asc1:3:0): asc1: timed out [ecb 0xfffffe00000561e0 (flags 0x45, dleft 20, stat 2)], <state 2, nexus 0xfffffe00000561e0, phase(l 12, c 100, p 3), resid 0, msg(q 0,o 0) > AGAIN
asc1: SCSI bus reset
sd8(asc1:2:0): max sync rate 5.00Mb/s
sd6(asc1:0:0): max sync rate 5.00Mb/s
sd7(asc1:1:0): max sync rate 5.00Mb/s

i do have a fast scsi tcds option card i plan on putting these disks
on (two per bus, leaving the current asc1 empty)...

but this works OK for me; far better than the SS2 it replaced.
