I've gotten decent luck with
	set boot_osflags -a
	set bootdef_dev dqa1
(dqa1 was eide.  'show device' for a list of devices)
	set auto_action boot

YMMV.  I had to replace the NVRAM batteries on my board before it would
remember this.
