Ok... those on this list may recall my post about a week or so ago about
getting my first Alpha (a 3000/600).

I have located a monitor that handles the PMAG's output no problem. For
those that may not yet know, I have found that (besides the obvious DEC
choices), the Data General model 7217 works very well indeed.

The next step was to try and load the Alpha CD-ROM for FreeBSD 3.2 into
the CD-ROM drive, and try booting from it. The thing went through a bunch
of convolutions and screen flickerings, and then came up with:

AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS ...
AUDIT_CHECKSUM_GOOD

	84 FAIL

>>>

This means, to my untrained eye, that the CD I have is not actually
bootable despite having the Alpha port for FreeBSD on it. Comments?

I suppose my next choice should be to try and get NetBSD booted on it.
What would be the best way to do so? I have a CD-ROM drive already
installed, and I can easily attach a TK50 or other tape drive to the SCSI
port.

	Thanks in advance.
