"That turns out not to be the case."  Try querying PR #7548.

7548 is classed as kern, not alpha, and was filed from tege@swox.se,
not tege@swox.com.  But the Originator field is "Torbjorn Granlund" and
the State field is "open".

And it does describe a problem such as the post that started this off
alludes to.  The heart of it is very short on detail; I quote:

The description of the machine includes no indication what SCSI
controller is in use, which seems to me to be critical.  An exact quote
of the messages that do get produced for ncr0 could also be important.
