Hi all,
I've come into a perplexing problem...I'm trying to switch my NetBSD setup
to a different hard drive. I installed all new tarballs (1.4 release), went
through /etc by hand, transferred the entire /home directory, & have a copy
of my htdocs on it. I did the "/usr/mdec/installboot /dev/rsd1c
/usr/mdec/bootxx_ffs" and did copy /usr/mdec/boot over to /mnt. I then
shutdown, removed the onl HD, removed the resistor to let the new HD be
SCSI ID 0 & proceeded to power up.I was greeted by:

(boot dka0.0.0.6.0 -flags a)
block 0 of dka0.0.0.6.0 is not a valid boot block
bootstrap failure

OK, I thought, maybe I mistyped something while doing the installboot.
Well, 3 more installboots later (some using /usr/mdec/*, some using
/mnt/usr/mdec/*) & I'm fairly confident that isn't the case. I've switched
hard drives a few times on the alpha already, so now I'm really stumped.
Here's the bottom of the offending disklabel:

# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
  a: 3400000 0 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0 - 2361*)
  b: 311990 3400000 swap # (Cyl. 2361*- 2577*)
  c: 3711990 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 2577*)

Here's the bottom of the disklabel of the running system:

# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
  a: 1668000 0 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0 - 2999)
  b: 464260 1668000 swap # (Cyl. 3000 - 3834)
  c: 2132260 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 3834)

What are those asterisks for in the bad version?

Any help greatly appreciated...I can't wait to get back to having enough HD
space to make build again ;-).

System:
AlphaStation 4/200 166, 80 MBs RAM, running HD 1 GB, bad HD 2 GB or so.
