It also forces narrow/async. This is part of my plan of major
rewhacking that involves bringing things back to safest
support level (but probably not for SCSI-1 "no parity"
support- I believe that Parity is a requirement. If your
device doesn't generate it, or you've strapped it otherwise,
sorry (you cannot safely do sync mode w/o it anywayt), and
then roll forward to the highest support based upon NVRAM
settings (which I don't read yet) and Inquiry data, with
some code to roll it back succesively if there are hangs
and errors (Lacking NVRAM info I'm also trying to figure
out a way to do termination pullups the best way).

Thanks for giving it a try- this looks like this might
be the right track.
