I've been playing a bit with my new DEFPA fddi cards and have some simple
performance comparisons using NFS. bonnie was used as the 'benchmark'.

The results are as follows:

Wed Jan 7 21:25:42 MET 1998

Server: FreeBSD-2.2.5R, DEFPA FDDI network card, Seagate ST15150N
	NCR810, Pentium 100 Mc, 32Mb

Client: AXPpci33 NoName, 200Mc, DEFPA FDDI network card, 32Mb

'Benchmark': bonnie running over NFS

openbsd2.2:
              -------Sequential Output-------- ---Sequential Input--
-Per Char- --Block--- -Rewrite-- -Per Char- --Block---
Machine MB K/sec %CPU K/sec %CPU K/sec %CPU K/sec %CPU K/sec %CPU
          100 206 15.1 215 8.3 244 16.6 993 67.5 1849 46.4
          100 184 13.3 225 9.0 245 16.9 1080 63.8 1879 45.1

same HW, but now NetBSD1.3 (alpha test release)
          100 1008 59.5 1308 23.9 831 34.3 1303 77.3 2457 29.6
          100 972 58.8 1303 26.0 791 32.9 1277 78.3 2372 27.8

same HW, but now Digital Unix T4.0D (field test release)
          100 1598 48.8 2385 30.0 1239 30.0 1702 67.2 2581 26.3

As you can see, the differences are considerable. For comparison's sake
I also tried it on a field test version of Digital Unix.

It seems there is something that makes OpenBSD considerable different
from NetBSD in this particular arena.

Anybody care to comment what this could be?
