-current kernels + savecore + "the other necessary stuff" now
understands and does the right thing with kernel core dumps, so with
up to date binaries (i really need to make a snapshot soon...) things
would work fine.


If you normally don't see them, but do see them when booting from a
kernel that you're testing (i.e. not named /netbsd), well, that's
normal.
