It already does, using the netbsd.950327.gz kernel in
ftp.netbsd.org:pub/NetBSD/arch/alpha/split .

I can't really say, about this...
It's worth noting that the binary distribution i shipped was
completely unstripped, and there's no support for NetBSD shared
libraries for the Alpha yet, either...
