Hi,

I've installed 2.0.2 on a Risc PC 700, disk partitioning and
installation of all the sets went through without any problems but I'm
unable to boot NetBSD afterwards. I'm booting with the generic kernel
and, after the hardware identification messages, I get:

boot device: wd0
root on wd0a dumps on wd0b
root file system type: msdos <= ???
warning: no /dev/console
exec /sbin/init: error 2

Root is on wd0a but the filesystem is not msdos! The disk is a 2.1G IDE
drive from a Windows PC which has been re-formatted using !HForm and
partitioned for RiscOS and NetBSD. The RiscOS partition boots normally.
If I boot the install kernel I can run disklabel and see that the
filesystem types and sizes all look correct, in particular the start
cylinder matches the one I gave in 'bb_netbsd'.

I thought that maybe the disk still had a DOS MBR and that might be
causing confusion so I checked and the MBR was indeed still present.
However zapping it to all zeros made no difference, the kernel still
doesn't find root. Any ideas?

FWIW, I went through a similar process installing NetBSD on an A7000 a
couple of weeks ago and that worked OK, the only difference, apart from
the hardware, was that I used a former Apple drive.

Regards,
George
