Hmm... I had tested against an oldish version of graphics/png
(1.2.43); but I now see that the API has changed in the meanwhile (and
png_set_gray_1_2_4_to_8() has been removed), which means that paraview
will need to be patched; see

What version of graphics/png do you have installed?
