I've made the change suggested by Aleksey, and would like to have this package 
reviewed and imported.  I'm pretty confident the package will work on those 
systems that the author has claimed support for (tested on Solaris Sparc), and 
hopefully should work on a number of others that I've supplied reasonable 
guesses for (tested on NetBSD i386).  At this point I'd like to get it imported 
so that more people can see it and supply feedback.
