(speaking as an individual, with pkgsrc-pmc hat off)
It's seeming to me that are an increasing number of packages out there
where the source bits are in svn, git, hg, cvs.
We have mk/{svn,git,hg,cvs}-package.mk in wip, and my
not-very-well-considered impression is that these need some spiffing up
before it's reasonable to start the "should they move to pkgsrc proper"
debate. As an example, git-package uses -r/-D (svn/cvs commands), and
this doesn't work.
So I wonder if anyone here considers themselves the expert and would be
willing to send a note explaining what's good and bad about the current
state of *VCS-package.mk.
