Oh, it still works here for me, using NetBSD 2.1.0_STABLE (i386)
in a pkgsrc-2005Q3 environment.
What's your configuration?
Probably there were changings in the mk-framework (if you are using some
newer environment) negatively affecting the do-install procedure?
